Parent involvement

Because we are a parent cooperative, parents assist in various ways, such as board duty, accompanying children and teachers on excursions, and substituting if possible. Parents also volunteer to substitute for those children who cannot be collected by 16.00. on Thursdays. In addition, we require families to help at the school at least one Saturday per term, doing chores and helping in any way needed. Parents are welcome to come in to the school and share a personal interest with the children.

Parent involvement means, at the very least, the following elements:
Cleaning day. Parents are expected to be available one Saturday per term for a cleaning day. The day is announced well in advance.

Being a substitute. Families are assigned 5 days per term when they need to be available as a substitute should a staff member become ill.

Friday duty: On a rotating schedule, each family will be required to work at the school on a Friday.

Sharing an interest. Any parent is welcome to volunteer to come in and share a personal interest, e.g. baking, singing, playing a musical instrument, reading with the children. Please speak to the head teacher so she can schedule your visit. This is a way for your child to see your involvement in the school and feel proud.

Being a room parent. Parents volunteer to help with holidays, special needs or special events.
